About us
The Carborg Project was born in the workshop of Camelot Restorations, where we have been restoring and converting classic cars for decades under the leadership of Gergő Fehér. We can take on the most complex projects, from finding the right base vehicle, through the design and implementation steps, to registration. We also do not shy away from special modifications and unconventional solutions, and in 2020 we devoted ourselves to developing an electric car that preserves the original car experience.
Camelot Restorations was founded by Melinda and Gergő Fehér in 2002, initially working on the first Minis in the family’s garage of just 15 square meters. Since then, the company has grown in every sense of the word, with a hangar-sized workshop where a team of twelve people is working now on half a dozen projects at a time.
In addition to two dozen restored Minis over the years, we have also handled such automotive wonders as
- Riley Elf,
- Wolseley Hornet,
- Cox GTM,
- Austin FX4D, Austin Healey 100/6 és Austin Healey Sprite MK4,
- Jaguar XK150s és Jaguar XK120,
- Porsche 930 Turbo,
- Land Rover Series 2,
- W113 280 SL Pagoda,
- W111 Mercedes-benz 220 SE Rally replica, W107 380 SLC és W107 350 SLC Regularity rally, and
- although it is a bit out of the ordinary, we still loved it: Uaz 452.
Our restored cars have been sold in Hungary, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria. You can find them on the roads anywhere! The W111 220sb Regularity Rally is still actively racing today, so you can see it on the racetrack.
Carborg Project is a quite special and unique project in the current automotive culture. In fact, it’s all our fault: although we know that electric vehicle technology is the future, we as classic car enthusiasts have had mixed feelings about the subject. We are excited by the character of old-school petrol engines, the smell, the noise, the vibration. Without working the pedals, changing gears, controlling the revs, playing with the clutch, it’s not the same! And because electric vehicles don’t have that kind of enjoyment value, we’ve developed a completely unique technology that combines the benefits of the EV with the feel of a petrol car – without compromise!
In other words, we have designed our system for ourselves, according to our expectations. But we’re convinced that other classic car enthusiasts like us, who don’t like half-solutions, will enjoy our technology-enhanced cars as much as we do! After several converted road and race cars, thousands of kilometres of successful test runs, several convincing race results – which you can read more about in our references – we share our development now with our partners.
